NEWS NEWS NEWS! We love Natalia Vodianova. She a kind of stealth over achiever, isn’t she? Certainly one of THE girls of her generation of models, she is also a mother of three and philanthropist. Having overcome an upbringing in almost unimaginable poverty by her current standards, in Russia, one of the first things she did when she made her own fortune (and a fabulously wealthy husband The Honourable Justin Trevor Berkeley Portman, heir to much of central London, didn’t hurt) was to set up a foundation to build playgrounds for children in deprived areas of Russia.
She’s had a few ‘retirements’ and ‘comebacks’ to the world of the international catwalks over the years, and designed a range of lingerie for French company Etam. NOW She’s using that indefinable quality to have captivated so many of worlds finest photographers in an acting capacity. The film is Belle du Seigneur, based on Albert Cohen's bestselling 1968 French novel. Natalia will play the lead role, that of a married woman who falls in love with a Jewish diplomat, who will be played by Brit pretty boy actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, set just before the World War II.
The director will be Glenio Bonier, on his first feature film. His CV includes shooting Calvin Klein ads, one of Natalia’s old campaigns too! We can't say for sure, but suspect Natalia's celluloid venture will be more Milla Jovovich than Liz Hurley - although we'll have to wait until 2012 to find out.
