Looks from Frida Giannini's A/W '10 show
Gucci, one of the first mega brands to embrace the internet (they opened their first e commerce site in 2002, fact fans) is increasing its online onslaught with the launch of its re-vamped ‘Digital Flagship’ (online shop), Gucci.com – now re-designed to relieve you of your handbag cash in even greater luxury style, as well as its own fan interaction base – Gucci Connect
NOW, this is the part we are super-excited about, as Gucci have obviously been working away with internet experts in giant specs and eager focus groups to come up with the latest concept in high fashion social networking. Yep, we’ve seen various brands (including Gucci, of course) livestream their catwalk shows. The late Alexander McQueen may have got in there first, in conjunction with SHOWstudio, while Burberry may have done it in 3D – but Gucci are inviting all of their fans worldwide to RSVP to a special invitation to the Women’s Spring Summer 2011 in Milan AND to compete to become one of a VERY select few fans who will get to form part of the show themselves – by filming themselves on webcam to be broadcast at the show itself! (How COOL is that? Very cool indeed, we say)
All you have to do is RSVP to the catwalk invite on Gucci Connect to receive an e-ticket for the erm, e-vent on September 22nd. Through "Gucci Connect’s webcam share technology", virtual guests will be mixing with the world's buyers and press – so you’d better have thought of a decent outfit, by then (!)
Finally, this is how you can get YOUR mug onto the Gucci show. You'll need to download the Gucci Connect E-vent Facebook App, which will allow virtual guests to create groups and compete for VIP seating at the e-vent on gucciconnect.com. If you are part of the winning group, it could be your face and your every gasp and eyebrow move being transmitted through your webcam to the ACTUAL SHOW IN MILAN!
We cannot wait to see how this one goes!
