We’re a little bit in love with Giles Deacon here at Grazia HQ, so we literally jumped at the chance to have brunch with him yesterday. As well as revealing all the details about his debut collection for Ungaro, Giles gave us all the latest info on his brand new GOLD by Giles collections for New Look.
Though the current collection (which includes a brilliant blurred floral print shift and gold kitten heeled shoes) only went into store two weeks ago, Mr. D has just announced that there’s going to be a Christmas range this year as well, which is so new that only a few of the samples have come back from the factory. Naturally, the Grazia Daily newshounds have sniffed out some sneaky pics of the new pieces as well as demanding to know Giles' personal favourites from the range.
Mr Deacon promises that ‘the cut on this collection is really really lovely with lots of gorgeous fabrics’, which we can confirm having rifled our way through the first samples. The range continues with the ‘Mad Men’ feel that the current pieces have, with tons of leopard print in dark hues and metallic embellishment. As the designer succinctly put it, ‘they’re just really good Christmas party frocks.’
And his favourites? ‘I've got two!' he says, pointing to an asymmetric leopard print number with a supersized ruffle to the shoulder; and also ‘the one which is inspired by Cheryl [Cole]’, which, is, not surprisingly, a cute mini prom dress with an single pleated pocket to the side.
The full range of party dresses by GOLD by Giles at New Look will be in store in November, so luckily you still have a time to bag some party invitations before hitting the shops.
