This season you’d have to be very slow on the uptake not to have realised that fashion has fallen in love with the Fifties! As well as various street trends, like all over vintage for a Bettie Page pin-up look, AND Louis Vuitton, Prada and Giles Deacon all favouring beehives, bosoms and boxy bags on the A/W ’10 catwalk, we’ve also had a set of on-screen role models from the series Mad Men.
The stars of the show have captured everyone’s imaginations – and more than a few front covers since the show aired, thrilling women everywhere about the fact that curvaceous Christina Hendricks seems to have bagged twice the amount of attention than that of any of her skinnier colleagues. Anyway, she continues her upward trajectory to stardom with her latest job – modelling the A/W collection for American classic clothing brand – London Fog. The label, while not exactly edgy, has a history of booking big name models and celebrities to front their campaigns - from Gisele to Eva Longoria.
Displaying a variety of outerwear and accessories, although the collection itself is not retro, Christina’s piled up-do and winged eyeliner give a pleasingly Hitchcock heroine feel to the shoot. Mmm mmm. We hope these images make some bigger names in the fashion biz consider casting Hendricks for Spring '11 campaigns...
AND – as if beauty and acting talent weren’t enough, she also must be a bit of a sweetheart, having modelled for one of her friends, an unknown knitter for their etsy.com page – the online shop where craftspeople of all disciplines can sell their wares directly to their customers! Aww!
