FIRST LOOK: Daisy Lowe’s debuts her collection for Morgan

16 August 2010

You’ve heard the news, you’ve seen the campaign images but last night at Vintage at Goodwood we got the first look at the actual clothes in Daisy Lowe’s first fashion line for high street giant Morgan. And we liked them. Especially the long sparkly maxi-dresses that her mum Pearl says were inspired by her days in 90’s band Powder. 'I’ve been asked lots of times to do a clothing line but it’s never been right because I haven’t been able to have total creative control. For this, I’ve been taking regular trips to Paris to check the designs, fabric and finishing is right,’ Daisy told us backstage as she tweaked the fittings of her catwalk show debut. 'I’m obsessed with actually looking people in their eyes when you talk to them so there are lots of eye motifs and there’s even a bag where the chains are made to look like eyelashes. It also features lots of Owls because I love them – the feeling they’re wise but also spooky, Twin Peaks style.’

Now, her Oiseau de Nuit collection is done and dusted (she hasn’t yet decided if they’ll be a second collaboration with Morgan), Daisy’s back to focussing on London Fashion Week. 'I know I’m walking for Pam Hogg because she’s a really good mate but other than that I’ll have to see what happens. I’ve been doing Cindy Crawford 80’s style exercise videos in preparation though!’ Not that she needs it. No, with her first fashion collection on the catwalk and new beau Matt Smith on the front row, Daisy looked like a very happy girl.
