On this drizzly Friday 13th, Grazia Daily wondered whether our luck could get any worse. We don’t mean to be melodramatic, but after a browse through the pictures from last night’s jollies, we were stumped. No award ceremony offering us a red carpet packed with fashionistas. Not a peep from Whitney Port and her city-chic wardrobe. We couldn’t even fall back on Lady Gaga and her spectacular face furniture. Yikes! With such slim pickings, how could we possibly muster up today’s Best Dressed list?
In our frantic state, we turned to Twitter (if the boss is reading this, this was for research purposes only rather than idle social networking). There, we found this cyber-squeal from Cat Deeley: “Romance is not dead!!!!!!” We were intrigued. Clicking on the attached link, our eyes were met by this:
Oooh, now this is promising. Because behind all that hair, we spied bursts of frothy chiffon and oodles of organza on a tutu-like skirt... Has Cat come up trumps? We’ll let you be the judge of that after seeing the frock in all it’s full-length - and full-colour - glory below:
And we have salvation! The coral tones are super-sumptuous, the draping is divine, the swirly explosions oh-so-whimsical. Yes, this is the kind of romantic dress girlie girls' dreams are made of, and a worthy number to take centre stage on today's Best Dress(ed) list. Plus, check out those Jimmy Choos! She knows a touch of sparkle is the way to Grazia Daily’s magpie heart, does our Cat.
But that’s not all - the presenter’s Twitter feed helpfully informs us that it’s a J. Mendel S/S ‘10 creation. This strikes Grazia Daily as a particularly fitting choice considering Cat wore it for last night’s final of "So You Think You Can Dance". Because did you know that the French designer produced the costumes for the New York City Ballet's production of "Call Me Ben"? AND his most recent collection for Resort 2010 is inspired by dance attire... Well, it’s a match made in heaven if ever we saw one, and doesn’t Cat make the prettiest ballerina that ever there was?
So all that’s left to say is thank you, dearest Deeley. And praise be that romance is not dead because you’ve just saved our bacon. We owe you BIG time.
