The Best Dressed List: a lesson in frockology!

10 August 2010

Rihanna has become quite the master of 'dare you wear' trends so it’s no surprise to see her pulling off this lime green Proenza Schouler S/S '10 tank dress with some serious aplomb. It’s an ideal display of carefully arranged chaos - from the tie-dye print, multi-coloured pleats and shark fin paillette on the hem to that brilliantly bright mop and matching red lippy. One thing's for sure, Ri-Ri ain’t afraid to make you stare (or cause a bit of controversy - have you seen her new video with Eminem?)

From the wacky to the whimsical, we present the lovely Leighton Meester still working away on the set of Gossip Girl in NYC. We’ve seen her interpret Sunday school prettiness every which way for her role as the prissy Ms Waldorf and Leighton’s latest offering is yet another fine example of how to go girlie via a floral print. Plus, the frock, from Reem Acra's S/S '10 collection, provides the perfect nod to this season’s '50s trend, especially with that patent belt accentuating the full skirt, not to mention the dainty LV speedy bag. Gorgeous! Co-star Clemence Poesy was by her side sporting an equally floaty ensemble comprising of a billowing blouse and printed skater skirt, vamped up by a pair of tan sandals. Ooh, how we love watching style icons in the making...

Our next trendsetter has us gagging for some summer nights, because Sarah Jessica Parker positively oozed laid-back sensibility at a screening of 'The Big C' in the Hamptons this weekend. Keeping it effortless in a Donna Karan get-up, the actress looked casual-cool thanks to her crepe drape jacket layered over a simple grey dress. And truth be told, Grazia Daily takes comfort in knowing that even die-hard heel wearers like SJP are happy to rock a pair of flip flops for some late night celebrations. Take note, ladies.

Last but not least, we pay tribute to Cheryl Cole and her latest style statement. Oh, how we’ve missed her pretty little frocks, so thank heavens she’s back to her perky ways with this splendid VB-esque number. We’re loving how Chez maintains a relaxed air by keeping her hands tucked in her pockets while that fold-down neckline keeps the look modern. And with that, we hear the message loud and clear: our favourite Geordie is back on track. Hurrah!
