We’ve been loving seeing all the photographs of Katie Holmes’ uncanny transformation into style icon Jacqueline Kennedy for the upcoming History Channel series The Kennedys.
And it seems Mrs Cruise has been seriously getting into the former First Lady’s style after doing her research for the role; so much so, that she is planning to base the next collection for her own fashion label Holmes&Yang on a modern take on Jackie’s style that she is dubbing ‘Camelot chic.’
Our source behind-the-scenes on the film exclusively informs Grazia Daily that "Katie has been telling people on set of the Kennedys that Jackie O's fashion sensibilities perfectly suits the 'classic-with-a-twist' range of Holmes&Yang. She is seeking to add a dose of modern minimalism to the elegant simplicity and regal chic of Jackie O. Holmes&Yang already has plenty of silk dresses and pencil suits in its 2010 luxury range so, inspired by 60s fashion, they're going to have fine cut colourful yellow, green and red silk satin as well as sleeveless dresses and pearl necklaces”.
Sadly, the actress/fashion entrepreneur is too late to get her own designs on screen; "there are no Holmes&Yang numbers featured in The Kennedy's series” our source tells us, “but, as a favour to her, Armani has re-created the pink Chanel dress which Jackie O was wearing in 1963 when JFK was shot."
Holmes set up her premium fashion label with stylist pal Jeanne Yang in 2008, and the range is so far sold only at Maxfield in LA. Holmes&Yang womenswear styles are shrunk down into mini-me sizes for the label’s kidswear.
Naturally, Katie’s own little style icon, daughter Suri, has also been getting into the 'Camelot chic' spirit; she's already been spotted wearing very-First Lady necklaces as well as Jackie O’s signature oversized sunglasses…
