Alexander Wang will show off his A/W'10 collection in a short film this week, set to be launched on his website on Wednesday. The designer's first "campaign video" will star Abbey Lee Kershaw and has been masterminded by a team of industry A-lister's; photographer Craig McDean, stylist Karl Templer and legendary creative director Fabien Baron. 'This is our way to sum up the season in a different light other than the show,' said Wang, who says the short video is 'abstracted' (read: arty), featuring the model 'dancing and moving along'. Wang's A/W'10 collection, was somewhat pinstripe-heavy, but the designer promises, 'Abbey’s not walking down Wall Street past buildings, but there’s wind and newspapers flying all over the place. It’s very moody and seductive — like looking at a perfume ad where you feel for the girl a lot more. Rather than saying, "Here’s the product," this is more about expressing ourselves.' Wang also revealed he was 'thinking and putting together ideas' for a signature perfume.
Meanwhile the brand also launches a more traditional marketing campaign this week - print advertisements starring Wang's muse/BFF Zoe Kravitz, daughter of Lenny Kravitz and [Grazia Daily's 80's style crush] Lisa 'Cosby Show' Bonet. Kohl-eyed Kravitz pulls some tigerlike poses, alongside male model Max Motta, for the Autumn/Winter collection of Wang's jersey focused basics range T. The ads will be part of a poster campaign hitting New York this week. [wwd, subscription required]
