Marc Jacobs has launched his own youtube channel! Yes! Amusingly the channel was registered way back in 2006, but the first films were uploaded yesterday. So far there are only two videos on there - a behind-the-scenes of the nudie shoot for his Bang fragrance, and a Q&A from Grazia Daily's new favourite blog the Business of Fashion.
In the interview, the designer explains how he came to model in THAT ad campaign; 'Robert Duffy [Marc's business partner] said "you know, you look great - you should be in the men's fragrance ad." Then i thought "ok, well, I feel comfortable" I mean I've been photographed by Juergen many times and I do feel more confident, probably, about the way I look now.. '
As for the nudity, Marc explains that he felt only his naked bod could convey the right message to tie-in with the name of the men's fragrance 'I think with the women's fragrances, there is something about colour and fabric and there's something about a type of clothing that can evoke a mood' says the designer of the campaign images for Lola and Daisy, his two women's scents; 'so like in Lola the hot pink slip, or that fuschia slip, I think gives a message. Or in Daisy the white bikini gives a message of Daisy. But I don't think a shirt or jacket gives a 'Bang' - you know, it just didn't do it...' It's hard to dispute that.
