Last Night’s Best Dressed: laid-back ladies

Well how adorable does Thandie Newton look! Here she is out on the town at the Royal Festival Hall last night sporting a fun combo of a dainty navy jacket and structured tweed mini-skirt from Isabel Marant's S/S '10 collection with that brilliantly quirky face print Marni tee. See? There’s no need to go all-guns-blazing for a dose of subtle kookiness, gals. Mischa Barton went for a similar girl-next-door vibe, also letting one stand-out item do all the talking. She’s perfectly framed her printed skirt (Mulberry's Wild Skirt in Suede Loopy Leopard, dontcha know!) with some neutral wardrobe basics and thrown on a pair of lace-up boots for a grungey edge. Well played!

Our next pick of the day is Alessandra Ambrosio. You couldn’t miss the stunning supermodel as she glided about sunny LA in this maxi-nificent gown of beautiful blues, simply accessorised with a beige tote across her arm. Yep, she won’t be blending into the background in this one! And although Rachel Zoe also turned to the summer staple, her choice isn’t such a showstopper due to the muted tone, making it nonethless perfect for a low-key city stroll.

Last but not least, it’s hipster of the moment, Taylor Momsen. Continuing to emulate the rockers off the world with that good-girl-gone-bad vibe, the songstress arrived at the launch of Madonna and LourdesMaterial Girl line at Macy's yesterday (stay tuned for more fashion from the hot event later). So although T.Moms kept those raccoon eyes hidden behind Ozzy Osbourne shades, all her other trademark flounces were firmly in place. ie: wiggily bleached extensions, black leather biker, studded OTK boots, and a seriously sultry pout. And despite being a leeeettle creeped out by her princess of darkness vibe for the teen (yes, TEEN!) launch, we’re proud to see she’s avoided the cardinal sartorial sin by keeping those pins underwraps to balance out all that tummy-flashing, which is still verging dangerously close to Lindsay Lohan territory. But hey, if all this fashion malarkey fizzles out, we’re certain those Hell's Angels would be more than happy to sign up a new recruit...
