Ever since it landed on our telly box, MTV's 'The City' - the real life version of Blair Waldorf’s bitchiness - has been Grazia Daily’s guilty pleasure. But the part we find most entertaining? Miss Olivia Palermo; she of the insanely beautiful face and ridiculously glossy hair, who gave us glorious catfights with Whitney Port, and a covetable style that leaves the Lauren Conrads of this world in her wake. But this morning, we’ve seen a different side to the socialite, brought to us by

Her first ever UK cover shoot for the retailer’s August issue sees Olivia hopping off that Upper East Side throne and trotting about the grittier streets of Brooklyn. Of course, she looks deliciously stylish, kitted out in sophisticated tones of camel, taupe and khaki from the Asos A/W ’10 collection, but the result is more downtown street style than Park Avenue princess. As the lady says herself, "I’m trying to not always look 100% polished. Maybe have a bit more of an edgy look.” Because, as we learn, life isn’t all about wearing a pretty frock and climbing the social ranks. In fact, this queen bee’s ready for some hard graft...

Since giving up her dream “to be a sports commentator” (no, really), Palermo now has plans to go into acting, modeling AND designing – to build ‘Brand Olivia’. So how does one secure world domination? For starters, we have every faith starting her own clothing line will be a breeze for the 24-year-old. Speaking of that wildly immaculate style of hers, she explains how she customizes her outfits to make them more fashion-forward: “Recently, I’ve been taking dresses in my closet, vintage or from a previous season, and re-draping them, adding my own personal touch with a brooch or a belt. Reinventing them.”

With this natural flair, what can we expect from our style crush when she does don that creative hat? “[My collection] would probably have to be soft,” she says. “And elegant – a really feminine collection. But I do love menswear, so I would probably throw in a few blazers and pant suits into the mix as well.” Hmm, sounds like someone's already got it sussed... Just don’t keep us waiting too long. Please!

In the meantime, start drooling in anticipation with this behind-the-scenes video:
