Last Night's Best Dressed: Mulberry's Valley of Dolls!

On this fine Thursday, what should appear to amaze us all? Images of a corker of a bash, jam packed with our favourite fashwan elite, of course. What else would you expect from an LA Pool Party thrown by Mulberry’s creative director, Emma Hill, in celebration of the brand’s A/W ‘10 collection (inspired by 1967 film "Valley of the Dolls")? A few glittery leopards to clamber on perhaps? Well, that goes without saying! So without further ado, let’s take a look inside California’s Chateau Marmont to see who wore what...

First on our list, it’s Alexa Chung – and her 'Alexa'! The Mulberry muse certainly chose an outfit befitting a girl who’s had a bag named after her, and doesn’t she look glossy! Her satin Mulberry shirt provides a sumptuous take on her usual scuffed-up tomboy style and a splash of leopard print on her namesake bag works a treat, even matching that two-tone hair. Goodness, is there no end to this girl’s talents? Apparently not, because after striking a pose, La Chung got down to business by spinning some toonz on the turntables. What brill skills!

We move onto another set of smoking hot legs on the lovely Molly Sims. Those shimmering silver heels and that glitzy floral print on her Mulberry frock is perfect for party times, but the raglan sleeve (usually reserved for t-shirts) and drop waist keep the look casual. On a side note, her slick I’ve-just-had-a-swim hair is letting her down a tad, don’t you think? Call us nit-pickers but that glossy mane of hers never fails to make us smile so please bring it back, Mol! Speaking of which, check out Alexa’s fellow Brit, Cat Deeley in her lacey LBD scattered with sequins. Those Mulberry 'Maggie' booties and failsafe leather jacket are the final touches for some serious poolside partying.

A very laid-back Kate Bosworth followed in Chung’s footsteps by throwing a touch of animal print into her casual ensemble with a statement Mulberry ‘Margret’ calf skin bag. Although we’re feeling a little ‘meh’ about the tee + jeans combo in comparison to the rest of those fancy pants-ers, we like to give credit where credit’s due and this outfit certainly shouldn’t be sniffed at. Plus, if you’ve been following your Grazia fashion trends (and if not, why not?!), you’ll see our gal is perfectly on-trend with those pointed black heels – it's sooo Kate Moss, dahling!

Our final congratulations go to Jessica Stroup and Shenae Grimes of 90210 fame for their pretty little glad rags. While Jessica flaunted a glorious Mulberry skirt of crush sequins, Shenae was the real winner in her sweet-as-pie dress from Mulberry’s A/W ‘10 2010 collection. We’re loving that quirky mix of slinky silk and textured tweed, toughened up by some chain detailing and a pair of ankle boots. Haven’t they done well! And how cute is this – before tucking into their dinner, the duo entertained themselves by getting snap-happy with the Fujifilm Instax cameras adorning the tables. Oh, to see those polaroids this morning...
