Actress-turned-fashion-designer, Lindsay Lohan, the girl who former Ungaro boss Mounir Moufarrige claimed "changes outfits five times a day” will now be spending the next 90 days in just the one ensemble - a bright orange boiler suit.
Forget the condemned man’s last meal – the condemned woman’s last outfit (for a while, anyway) was somewhat bizarre. Lohan yesterday arrived at the Beverley Hills courthouse, dressed down in a strangely-styled outfit: tight, faded blue jeans; a grey top cinched in by a wide black corset belt; slouchy peep-toe black ankle boots and a collarless black leather jacket (which looked suspiciously like something from her 6126 collection).
Hidden behind black sunglasses, the 24-year-old stalked into the courthouse in front of the world’s press with her trademark bleach blonde hair extensions flying. Hair extensions are not allowed inside the jail, and will be removed for the duration of her incarceration, along with her make up and false nails. It is not known whether Lohan’s nails were carrying a follow-up statement to her infamous 'contempt of court' manicure.
She did, however, surrender to the court coated head-to-toe in gold glitter. To be fair, the glitter wasn't Lohan's idea - a devoted fan threw a handful of good luck sprinkles over her as she headed into the building.
Now all we can do is await her release day outfit. And on this front, the bar has already been set pretty high. When Naomi Campbell was sentenced to 200 hours community service in 2007 for throwing a mobile phone at her assistant, she treated the short walk from her chauffeur-driven limo into the detention centre each day as a fashion show; appearing in a series of catwalk-savvy outfits accessorised with the latest sunglasses and It bags. She finally waltzed out on her last day in a silver sequinned Dolce & Gabbana corset gown, killer heels and diamonds.
But until then, this particular season is all about orange for Lilo.
