Last Night's Best Dressed: expect the unexpected

All hail the return of the scintillating Angelina Jolie! Because this is one little lady who can make an LBD anything but boring. Case in point: last night’s premiere of ‘Salt’, which saw the sultry actress sporting a bevvy of sequins on her Emporio Armani strapless mini dress. And who needs further accessorising when a certain beardless Bradders * gasp * is at hand? Ooh, the sight of La Brange is enough to get us all a’flutter! But is it enough to overshadow Jennifer Aniston’s topless perfume ads? We couldn’t possibly comment...

Naomi Watts did her own bit of glittering at the LA premiere but stuck to a silver gunmetal tone to avoid an A-list clash (phewf!). What a lovely change it is to see the Aussie actress taking on such a funky, futuristic style in this one of a kind strapless cocktail dress from Gucci’s Cruise 2011 collection. And just check out those matching leather sandals complete with Gucci’s signature horsebit – very cute! But what do you make of her brand new blunt cut and the side-sweeping bangs? Too harsh or super sleek?

Also back on the promo circuit is this week’s cover star, Katie Holmes, who opted for a more laid-back approach for the premiere of her new comedy, ‘The Extra Man’ in NYC. But we can't help feeling this simple Celine Pre-Fall 2010 striped t-shirt dress is more suitable for a playdate with Suri, or how about doubling-up as an oversized nightie for her precious little mini-me...? Yes, you are oozing sweetness and the ruffled hair does look adorable but seriously Katie, the bagginess, those clunky buckled heels, that I-don't-know-how-to-pose-without-my-husband stance? Is this look really the best you can muster for the red carpet?! We feel most let down.

But this sight has cheered us greatly. Yes, it is the lustrous Megan Fox, whose usual shenanigans are enough to turn much of womankind green with envy. However, by the looks of appearance at the 2010 VH1 Do Something! Awards in Hollywood yesterday, she's the one turning a rather worrying shade from head-to-toe. Because as much as we love the newly appointed Mrs Austin Green's head of flowing locks a-top that pretty-as-punch Azzedine Alaia frock, the matchy-matchy tan and Brian Atwood heels are a tad Bronzed Goddess overboard, no? Having said that, if her intention was to dress like a terracotta flower pot, then she’s DEFINITLEY pulled it off so thumbs up indeed, Megs.
