Aah, this weekend saw London’s Victoria Park transformed into festival-land for the seventh annual LOVEBOX weekend. East London’s finest were out in form, and with the sun absolutely beating down on the scorched grass, teeny shorts and booties from slouchy numbers to lace-ups proved to be the preferred outfit du jour.

On stage the fashion competition was fierce. Saturday afternoon saw Miss Paloma Faith (who only lives down the road in Dalston) perform her set in a shimmering green velvet number with ginormous fan-hat and golden bustle. We liked.

Sunday was definitely the fashiest day of the three though. First up - a catwalk show courtesy of Dr NOKI and his recycled delights in the blazing afternoon sun. Although it seemed an odd venue for a fashion show – it felt totally right as East London is nothing if not all about fashion, and it proved a rather fabulous interlude between the bands and DJs going on all around.

Later that day, electro-punk heroine Peaches strode onto the stage in her usual guise – a kind of robotic pink puffa jacket. This proved to be the first of many layers that she peeled off during her rousing set, during which the stage was invaded by Fashion darling drag queen Jonny Woo with an army of London’s finest drag performers. Yikes!

Then as the sun set over the East End, the mighty Grace Jones came on stage (a mere half an hour late!) to close the festival. As we all knew, La Jones confidently trashed the younger generation of performers in the stage-wear stakes. With a costume and hat change in between EVERY song, everyone was left gaping at her amazingly muscley legs and selection of Phillip Treacy headgear. Amazing.
