How jealous are we? Grazia's Junior Fashion Editor Catherine Nieto flew into New York yesterday for the supercool launch of Prada's latest range of limited edition sunglasses.... Go on then, tell us all the details.. *seeth*
"Boy, do Prada know how to throw a party! To celebrate the launch of their new capsule collection of sunglasses called ‘Swing’ frames, (a style which is closely linked to the mood of the mainline A/W 10 collection) Prada laid on an evening to remember. Held at a jazz-themed venue named ‘Joe’s Pub’ NYC’s movers and shakers (including the star of the campaign, Angela Lindvall, looking utterly gorgeous in a simple, chic dress and Prada shoes) turned out in full to enjoy a night of good ol’ fashioned entertainment and we were there to bring you the goings on…
The air was full of excitement as guests feasted on oysters and giant prawns which they washed down with ice-cold Tequila Sunrises and Vodka screwdrivers. Seated at white tablecloth clad tables and chairs, or the velvet booth style seating surrounding the room, no party goer could take their eyes off the Prada models. The three of which were dressed in A/W10 runway looks and of course the new eyewear. Parading their wares, they danced the evening away, firstly to a live jazz band, then a rocking DJ set followed by the star of the night, the infamous Nina Hagen - for whom the crowd went wild. You could feel the energy bouncing off the walls as the singer performed songs from her brand new Gospel/punky album, as well as classics including Summertime. Nina who wore head-to-toe black apart from the multicoloured feathers in her hair, told the crowd 'You're so lucky you people, you have New York every day...I only have it tonight…' but what a night it was!"
And here are the Swing sunnies in question, inspired by 1950s shapes and the clean simple lines of Prada’s 1990s fashion - watch the gorgeous ad below, shot by Steven Meisel. They will be available to buy from mid-September at David Clulow - www.davidclulow.com
