Giles Is Back ! ACNE to show! Yes, it's the new London Fashion Week Schedule!

15 July 2010

GILES S/S '10 - One of our favourites returns to London!

OH MY DAZE! Is it that time of year already?

No we’re not talking about the silly season for news stories, we’ve just received the provisional schedule for LFW for September 2010 !!! Whooo ha! This means that dates and timings of individual shows may be subject to change, as all the designers with slots they don’t love will try and negotiate with the British Fashion Council for a better one. BUT!

We are excited to announce NEW designers! Michael Van Der Ham, Holly Fulton AND David Koma will all be holding catwalk shows on the official schedule for the first time thanks to the NEWGEN initiative! Congratulations one and all.

Favourites Burberry Prorsum and Matthew Williamson are staying another season, confirming that London has to be taken as seriously as the other fash capitals, even when it comes to the more commercial brands. Yay!

Best of all, Giles will receive an extremely warm welcome when he returns to his home city this September. Hurrah! Giles Deacon, who launched his eponymous label at LFW in 2003 following a masters from Central Saint Martins and a variety of experience from luxury brands including Bottega Veneta, Gucci, Jean Charles de Castelbajac and Louis Vuitton told us, “Giles is a quintessential London label and I am extremely happy to be showing in London after two successful seasons in Paris”. Not as happy as we are, Mr Deacon!

Less well known brands but Grazia favourites Tata Naka and Acne will both be holding ‘salon shows’ (presentations) on the official schedule for the first time. These are certainly two names to watch out for. The LFW announcement comes on the eve of the opening of the first London Acne store, and Jonny Johansson, the Creative Director of Acne, commented “For me London has a great energy and momentum at the moment. I love the English way of clashing heritage and contemporary.”

Hakaan, who has been awarded the prestigious ANDAM grant won't be appearing because he's off to Paris, so good luck to him!

Can. Not. Wait!
