At last! Crystal Renn Lands A Major Designer Ad Campaign!

Wow! We can't believe our eyes! Crystal Renn has landed the prestigious honour of a MAJOR CAMPAIGN! Her fans will be pleased to hear that the raven haired beauty is the face of Jean Paul Gaultier’s label for A/W ’10! Well done Crystal! She’s looking lovely in her floral headscarf and giant wedges. This coming season, most of the girls fronting campaigns are established modelling legends, like Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana or Karen Elson at YSL and Christy Turlington for Louis Vuitton. Then there are the Victoria's Secret girls like Alessandro Ambrosia, Freja Beha, Abbey Lee and Miranda Kerr sweeping up the rest of the work.

Even up against these luminaries Crystal is now famous enough to secure a brand such as Jean Paul Gaultier. Crystal seems to have made such a name for herself - we think 2010 has been HER year, that she’s snagged a major label too. This really is a big deal for plus sized girls, because NO ONE plus sized, since the days of Sophie Dahl for YSL Opium has been validated in this way - as the face of a major, high fashion label. Crystal's previous advertising work includes starring in a two-page campaign for Dolce & Gabbana in 2006. Additionally, she has appeared as the face of Mango alongside Penelope Cruz in 2007, and was the face of Evans last year.

The brilliant photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin have pictured her lying in between Chinese girl Ping Hue and French model Kelly Moirera. We are well pleased that she has her own campaign, and it's proof, as if any were needed, that the role of the plus sizer can be far greater than boring old catalogues for frumpy plus sized brands! Jean Paul Gaultier can be said to be absolutely leading the charge of designers saying that he wants the image of women in fashion to change and he's put his money where his mouth is by chosing Crystal for this role. He has had a relationship with the model since she first walked for him in 2005 and we are sure he will be receiving plaudits for from the real women lobby today!

Congratulations Miss Renn!
