Grazia Daily chat to Markus Lupfer!

13 July 2010

Hello – how was Berlin Fashion Week? We heard you had some famous guests at the show.

It was amazing, fabulous! It went really well. Now we are back in London to start working on the Spring Summer collection.

OK, and will you stay in London to show that collection?

We don’t know yet! We are having fun being able to be flexible at the moment. Yes, we are based London, so it will be nice to do something here for next season. For the in-between seasons like resort, it was fun to go to somewhere different like Berlin because with the internet, everyone can see the pictures anyway, so it gives you that freedom to go on the road, as it were.

Did you have lots of fun in Berlin? Everyone is saying it’s such a cool place right now .

Oh absolutely! In a way it was like coming home. Although I’m not from that part of Germany – I’m a mountain boy! But Berlin is the coolest place – we had the most amazing three days, it’s really a hot and a cool place at the moment, it has the most amazing vibe, and we managed to go to a few parties there too!

Did you get inspiration from what the girls were wearing out there?

Yes I think I will – but it was so hot people weren’t wearing very much! Its got great street fashion though. Its like London in that respect, scruffy, street fashion, but really cool.

We heard you had a celebrity turnout for your presentation . . .

Yay! We had Olivia Palermo come. She’s great, she was in Paris for the couture and she came over and all the editors came too. The presentation was at Soho House in Berlin [it’s the new hot place, we hear] and then we had like a really small dinner for just 30 people afterwards.

We're all really obsessed with the lips jumpers you did last year, what is going to the next cult print we all have to get our hands on?

Ha ha ha, thank you . At the moment we’ve developed a ring like design, the buyers like it, we’ve had a good reaction to that and we’re also using some really cool horses! Oh. And there’s a limited edition one with a bunny and a stamp.

Are you going to be in London or Germany for the rest of the summer? Are you going to have a holiday?

I’m staying here but I’ve been to Ethiopia already – so that was my holiday!

I might have a long weekend, but other than that I’ll be busy working on my next collection.

Phew! That sounds hectic Markus, we don’t blame you for wanting to have a mini break in Berlin to show the resort collection!
