Last Night's Best Dressed: warm weather wear!

09 July 2010

The weekend is just around the corner, the sun has got his hat on, and the celebs with their warm weather wear have us itching to break free from the office confines - just look at these final examples. Blake Lively, fresh from the couture FROWs and prancing about Paris, was kitted out in an ivory fancy accessorised with a dainty Dior bag and heels, while Jessica Alba hopped over to Berlin Fashion Week wearing yet another adorable full-skirted frock, polished off by a metallic belt and leg-lengthening nude sandals. We’re sure we can pull off this level of glamness on the London streets...right?

More fashionistas turning to the light side yesterday were Olivia Palermo and Caroline Sieber who both opted for shimmering neutrals at their respective soirees (the Boss Black fashion show for O.P, The Serpentine party for C.S, dontcha know). We’re not ashamed to admit our complete captivation with Sieber’s delicate number consisting of a tight nude mini-dress under a sheer embroidered overlay, making her look like a dainty fairy sprite type thing. What brill skills!

And the summer vibrancy continues with these bursts of colour and festive patterns perfect for sultry summer nights. French fancy Marion Cotillard was here in London town for the premiere of 'Inception' and looked ravishing in a floaty snake print dress with leather trim from Thakoon's Pre-Fall 2010 Collection. That handkerchief-hemline beautifully frames her pair of peep-toe shoeboots, making for a nice alternative to the usual floorsweepers gracing the red carpet.

Mischa Barton was soaring to stylish heights too when she hit the St Tropez party scene last night enrobed in this multi-coloured maxi, given a tough twist with a skull print - what a lovely surprise!

And here’s Yasmin Le Bon at the Serpentine bash also creating maximum impact swathed in her sky blue asymmetric gown covered in a cloud-like pattern. Just dreamy...

Other Serpentine attendees worth a mention are Poppy Delevigne and Lara Bohinc. The Brits tottered about Kensington Gardens in their metallic minis and we’re loving Lara’s decision to go particularly space-age in Viktor & Rolf’s dark silver draped dress from their A/W '10 collection. All you need is a few gold accessories and you have one fabulous party ensemble!

And finally, we reserve a special mention for Julia Restoin Roitfeld who was also joining in the Serpentine fun but rather than going super summery like the other guests, the stylista channelled Mama Roitfeld’s goth glam with this lacey black number custom made by Emilio Pucci, enlivened with a dose of leopard print on her strappy sandals from the designer's Pre-Fall 2010 collection and a pair of diamond circle earrings by Solange Azagury-Partridge. Well done Jules, we’re mightily impressed (read: mega jealous).
