Move over Liz McDonald and Roxy Mitchell, there’s a new landlady in town – and it’s Agyness Deyn! The Brit model-turned-actress is opening her very own pop-up pub!
The temporary boozer will open next month in New York (boo) in collaboration with London rock chick label AllSaints, which recently launched to near-hysterical approval from our US friends ($1m worth of sales in the first week, fact fans). The pub will be based in NY’s hipster enclave Williamsburg, for the duration of the Jelly Pool Parties music festival, and will be used as a VIP area for the event, so we’re expecting some famous faces to drop in.
At the moment, we have few details about the decor, but of course this pub will be olde worlde super-stylish (No All Bar One action here) - maybe engraved glass, mahogany bar, brass fittings; think Guy Richie’s pub the Punchbowl (and his recent film Sherlock Holmes). We would also imagine that AllSaints will be continuing the signature style of their store interiors with weirdy vintage knickknacks dotted around – like sewing machines and old books.
Deyn is not the only fashionista to open her own pub. Bag babe Anya Hindmarch recently opened her own temporary pub, complete with fashion pub quizzes.
No doubt Aggy’s pub will be frequented by her gang of ‘it’ mates, and who knows – they may even do the odd shift behind the bar – will Alexa be pulling pints, Pixie Geldof be shifting beer barrels and Henry Holland riffling through the boxes of crisps? Let’s wait and see.
What we do know: Aggy and her friend, (and co-founder of fashion website naag.com) Fiona Byrne will be video-blogging from the pub – so even those of us back in Blighty can enjoy the fun.
And we’ve sure there will be just as much drama as there usually is in the Queen Vic and the Rovers Return put together.
