The Weekend’s Best Dressed: Bravo for Dolce and Gabbana’s birthday bash!

21 June 2010

If you’re after a glossy soirée, you can always count on Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to bring the full (and super sumptuous) shebang. The duo certainly didn’t disappoint for Dolce & Gabbana’s Men’s 20th Anniversary party held on Saturday during Menswear Fashion Week, where an obligatory combination of vibrant prints, pretty florals and classic corsets exulting the female form arrived - and ta-da! Milan was teeming with a bucketload of Italian va-va-voom, naturally. So without further ado, let’s check out the event’s Best Dressers...

We begin by shining our style spotlight on our favourite Dolce & Gabbana-ism: animal print. Eva Herzigova worked the formula to perfection with her leopard and polka dot patterned frock from the AW10 collection toned down by a black cardie, while Margherita Missoni went all out thanks to a glorious cheetah-esque ensemble – what a treat to see her in something other than Missoni’s stripes, although the matching shoes on that swirly carpet are making us quite dizzy. While on the topic of vibrant patterns, a special mention goes to Peaches Geldof who oozed that signature Sicilian chic thanks to her purple cocktail dress with lace detail that she wore to the designers’ catwalk show earlier in the day. Bellissimo, bellas!

Next came the black beauties who whipped up a glam spectacle. Rachel Weisz went fabulously flashy in her sequin strapless Dolce & Gabbana dress accessorised with strappy sandals, and Juliette Binoche kept it classic, showcasing the immaculate tailoring the design duo are famed for. She teamed her ruched satin Dolce & Gabbana cocktail dress with a black crop blazer and satin pumps for a polished to perfection result. Peaches also reappeared looking set for a spot of saucy tangoing, sporting this SS10 fringed creation that ticks all the Dolce & Gabbana boxes, obvs.

And then there's the romance, key to any Dolce & Gabbana shindig. The rose-patterned Camila Alves (aka Mrs Matthew McConaughey) captured their trademark freshness wearing a delightful pink and cream floral blouse and complimenting brocade skirt, topped off with nude strappy heels at the catwalk show. And we end the night’s parade with a surprise appearance from Duffy who personified Latino sophistication, rather than her own Welsh roots. And that’s the Dolce & Gabbana effect for you...
