The Best Dressed List: Stars and Stripes

For the opening of today’s Best Dressers we provide you, dear readers, with an old fashion friend – the beloved Breton stripe. Yep, the sea-worthy staple shows no sign of relinquishing its power and when two mega models, plus a Biel, revisit the trend on the very same day, you can be safe in the knowledge that this oldie-but-goodie is still totally on-trend (cue a sigh of relief from a zillion striped Grazi-ettas today). So take a cue from these three gals and throw on a fancy blazer to smarten up your sailor stripe + casual jeans combo - we’re particularly smitten with Kate’s choice that has a leopard print lining, and those Tabitha Simmons Candace boots of hers are an ideal dainty touch. It’s laid-back cool at its best, n'est pas!

More model inspiration comes courtesy of fashion frontrunners Agyness Deyn and Helena Christensen who brought their super duper gams to the New York streets in some super short shorts. Always trusted to demonstrate the simple approach to city style, Aggy dressed down her Daisy Dukes with a low-key shirt and a, er, rucksack while Helena finished off her cutesy look with a brilliant blue bike – didn’t we tell you cycling is officially chic? Yes, we believe we did.

Ooop, and here’s another – we are LOVING the models-off-duty today! For here is the gap-toothed beauty of Lara Stone providing us with an after-dark lesson when she took to the London tiles with hubby David Walliams last night. Her lacey number with a jagged hem is very befitting of a girl with such killer curves, and we’re rewarding top marks for offsetting it with a tailored tux and matching belt to polish up the frock’s flirtiness. Yup, it’s a sassy summer assemblage to die for.

Our final style star of the day is Florence Welch who, in fear of repeating ourselves, we adore -  and here’s the perfect illustration why. The songstress added another sartorial masterpiece to her already bountiful body of work when she attended the English National Ballet Cocktail Reception wearing a printed vintage delight, and made like Mossy with her favourite Nicholas Kirkwood suede lace-up booties. Doesn’t her hair just get more effervescent with every outing? Bottom line: we appreciate highly. But your validation is needed, fashwan fans, so have your say below...
