A Week in the Style of Courtney Love

OK, so we’re well aware of the fact that Courtney Love errs on the crazier side of bonkers. But she’s a lovable little thing and no one can deny that the girl doth love fashion. She’s is, after all, one of Ricardo Tisci’s muses amongst other pedigrees like models Maria Carla Boscono and gappy gorgeousness Lara Stone. And, let us not forget that Meadham Kirchhoff’s AW/10 collection is inspired by Love’s bohemian rock-star style too. And while we’re au fait with Courtney’s onstage look whilst performing as part of her band ‘Hole’, we've noticed a significant shift in her off-stage style in the past month.

Not only has Courtney’s new hair been the subject of many of her tweets (she’s loving her new ladylike ‘do) but we’ve noticed that she’s smartening up her clothing act too. Soft monochrome tailoring, a Celine camel coat (so AW/10), a series of simple evening dresses and one killer black sheer Givenchy gown at a MOMA party this week in NYC have all put Love back on our style radar.

And is it just us, or is there a Debbie Harry feel to Love’s new blow-dried hair and 80’s style makeup? Despite the shift dresses, smart jackets and sophisticated pumps, Courtney has to keep up her rock star appearance – dishevelled locks during the day, tattoos on show at every possible opportunity, underwear as outerwear (like a Chanel slip-dress for a gig night) and ripped tights leave no doubt that she’s Love won’t be turning into a boring and sensibly dressed grown-up any time soon.
