First and foremost, it’s common knowledge that the venerable Whitney Port never fails to look anything but splendid when pottering about the town and once again, she pulled it out the bag for yesterday’s outing in New York City. Ok, so it might look like a dressing gown or a flouncy beach-only wrap but there’s no denying that this lively little number is a refreshing sight on a sunny Thursday morning. And the more we look at it, the more we love. It’s fresh, it’s interesting, it’s funky -- and makes us dream of the seaside. What could be better?
Also in NYC is the visually pleasing mix of Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin and Chloe Sevigny, filming Something Borrowed alongside that lovely John Krasinski. K.Hud looked very ‘prim and proper Gwynnie in The Talented Mr Ripley’ with a belted trench thrown over her buttoned frock, topped off with oversized pearls and tortoiseshell sunnies - yes, she’s in costume (and a very pretty one at that). Ginnifer, meanwhile, was cute as pie in a ditzy floral frock and Chloe embraced the resurgence of clogs with her cool combo of jeans + suspenders + Cramps tee for a perfect demonstration of hipness.
But up for argument, we bring you this little lot from our fair city:
Yikes! Yes, we were slightly amused by that high-fashion show for goth enthusiasts on Tuesday night but this latest display of monochromatic matchy-matchy-ness really takes the biscuit. C’mon girls, you’ve got months to try out Halloween outfits! But then, what else do you expect from four constant sources of goth glam: Florence Welch, Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof and Alice Dellal, who arrived at the 'Emeralds for Elephants' exhibition in Selfridges yesterday. So what was the event’s dress code?! Retro rocker copycats perhaps? Or a homage to Taylor Momsen? Whether planned or not, the Brit pack made a beautifully harmonized quartet with their mix of saucy lace and tough lace-ups, a copious amount of chunky buckles and chains, plus a whole lotta leggy leg. If only they had MK Olsen to complete the look...Sigh.
