Oh the fabulosity! Lucky lucky ol’ Grazia Daily got to attend the launch of W hotel’s new pool this week, and; Oh. My. Days. It was opulent.

As far as European holidays and weekend mini breaks go, SURELY Barcelona is up there at the top of most girls’ lists for a fab destination. The ginormous, sail shaped W Hotel is a new addition to the city’s skyline and; ¡AY ay ay! ¡Que Magnifico el es! As the Spanish people would say. The amazing luxury glass edifice perched on the beach itself was only completed last year and to christen its first summer season they threw a bumper bash to unveil the WET deck – the hotel’s pool area, which overlooks the Barceloneta beach, no less and provides a sumptuous sunbathing area on several levels from which to soak up the rays.

GLORIOUS!  We drank Veuve Clicquot and scrummy cocktails while desperately trying to look elegant and shovel in canapés and barbecued skewers at the same time. No mean feat we tell thee.

On DJing duty were the extremely charming Tom Middleton who told us how pleased he was to be in the plush environs of W – “I love the architecture, the colour palette, the textures, the textiles . . everything” His storming set included remixes of Ladyhawke and Florence and the Machine and he told us the secret of getting any party going – always suss out your audience and tailor your set to them, don’t make them follow your own agenda.

Next on the bill was Pete Tong, who in true rock and roll style was glowering at everyone and refusing to give interviews *thrills!* No party these days is complete without Face Hunter, aka Yvan Rodick, who was also in attendance, snapping away at the senoritas on parade. What a super gent he is.

After the party, the whole circus were due to move on to Ibiza to the opening parties and the IMS music conference. Oh, to join the jet set permanently, rather than for just one night. Not that we’re complaining you understand!
