Karl Lagerfeld has his, Anna Wintour and ALT have The September Issue, Coco Chanel was brought back to life by Audrey Tatou, and Valentino was the latest to be immortalised in celluloid. Apparently filmmakers never believed large audiences would be interested in fashion features until after the runaway success of The September Issue, but since then studios have been searching the catwalks and ransacking the ateliers for more fashwan movie fodder.
As we’ve announced recently, movies about both Vidal Sassoon and Roy Halston Frowick (of Halston fame, and king of Studio 54, no less) will both be distributed for our viewing pleasure in the coming months. Meanwhile, a certain Mr Phillip Treacy, friend and confidant of both Isabella Blow and Alexander McQueen and OF COURSE hatmaker to the stars has let slip to Andre Leon Talley of all people, that a project to make a film of Isabella’s life has been green-lighted.
Mr Talley told blogger Perez Hilton
"We had not hugged since Isabella Blow's funeral three years ago, and he shared fabulous news: He has a producer to do a film on Isabella, and John Galliano has already confirmed to play himself. Who will play Isabella? Treacy has a great trick up his hat, and it's going to rock the world, but he cannot reveal it until this major new talent confirms."
We would LOVE to go and watch that. Think of the wardrobe department, would they be able to exceed the reported $10m spent on the unavoidable SATC2? Surely they would easily top that on the hat budget alone!
