Just imagne it - with a shimmy of Karl Lagerfeld’s little bowtie, before you know it you're being whizzed over to France to spend a glamorous weekday jaunt frolicking amongst supermodels on the quayside, having a hoot playing boules in your finest Chanel garb with other equally hot young things and enjoying a Cruise catwalk show as the sun sets on the streets of St Trop. Heavenly. Oh no wait, you have to be one of Karl’s top girls. Luckily for our envious eyes, Grazia’s ever-so-elegant Style Director Paula Reed did receive an invite from the master and you can follow her coverage on her blog.
But what we wanted to investigate, is how exactly would one pack for such a fashion filled adventure? Call the porters! We’ve got a truckload of suitcases, four hat boxes and a travelling wardrobe of platform heels! Not for Diane. A twenty be-suitcased-J-Lo type of traveller she is not. Instead she’s micro managed her wardrobe to perfection. One trusty panama hat. A couple of fabbyoso Chanel frocks with the best lampshape shaped skirts we’ve ever seen (so right for playing boules, no?). Some khaki basics and a killer pair of 70s denim flares (a reflection of Herr Lagerfeld’s 1970s influence on his latest collection perhaps?) and the ultimate finishing touch – your very own personal Joshua Jackson (not that you’d pack him in a suitcase of course).
And whilst Diane may have had strong competition from Chanel’s other ultra-stylish ladies – Caroline Sieber, Leigh Lezark, Elisa Sedanoui, Georgia May Jagger and Karolina Kurkova to name but a few - her simple, no fuss approach to dressing for every occasion from airport to FROW has inspired us. Who needs fancy schmancy accessories when you are wearing a paillette encrusted LBD from Chanel? Or why not dress down your cutesy lamshade frock with flats and that panama hat? There’s a lot to be learnt from Diane here, even if your closet isn’t bursting with Chanel pieces.
