Introducing Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned of Qatar

17 May 2010

OH. My. GODFATHERS! If our eyes were a little sore this morning (it IS Monday and all that) this sight has definitely healed our peepers. But who is this beauteous vision?

Just because Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned of Qatar is the wife of the Emir of Qatar (up there as one of the ridiculously richest rich people in the world, and brand new owner of his very own . . .err Harrods!) and chooses to keep her head covered in public, the Sheikha doesn’t let that come in the way of pure fashion fabulosity (yes, that is the technical term).

Oh, no. In her home country she’s a spokesperson for education and a campaigner for women’s rights, and while out touring the world she’s an eminent dignitary representing Qatar’s interests with grace and panache, and all while wearing - in what might be described as a vibrant colour palette - a series of increasingly wonderful turbans.

Is it a coincidence that turbans are en vogue en ce moment? We’ve been absolutely hearting the likes of Paloma Faith and Carrie in the-film-that-requires-no-introduction, sporting the wondrous ruched headpieces.
Joan Collins’ trademark the height of fashion once again? Who could have predicted that one?
