From casual chic and kooky cool to full-on glamour, it's time to rate and slate the weekend's Best Dressed...
Gemma Arterton is starring in pretty much every film this summer so thank heavens she knows how to keep things interesting for her red carpet parade. After rocking a geometric Gucci shift for the London premiere of Clash of the Titans, Gem glided into Westfield for her latest flick, Prince of Persia, with the full works. It’s no secret that an enormous ballgown is the clearest way to our heart but this Valentino Pre-Fall 2010 beauty really got us going, thanks to that leaf detailed bodice and those silver bugle embellishments, making it reminiscent of the wonders we witnessed at the Met Ball. Plus, when enlivened by a vibrant red lip and topped off with such a slick hair do, the overall effect is simply magnificent. Having your own prince on your arm in the form of Jake Gyllenhaal is pretty handy too. What more could a girl ask for?
Also doing her bit for the Brits was Cat Deeley who arrived at the Britweek Fashion Awards with pal Matthew Williamson, who picked up the Designer Of The Year award (woop for him!). We think we speak for all of us when we say the Deeley is one lady who should not be underestimated when it comes to the style stakes and this little number designed by Matthew Williamson himself shows us why. There’s asymmetric draping, there’s pleats, there’s multi-coloured prints – just gorgeous! All she needs is a few delicate Links of London gold bracelets and those dazzling Jimmy Choos for a touch of bling. God, she has lovely hair. Sigh.
Ok, we're all well versed in Katy Perry’s kooky coolness — that marvellous LED frock she wore to the Met Ball only made us fall all the more in love with her — so we’re very happy to see she’s still pulling it out the bag with this cute strapless shift, boosted by a matching bracelet to perfectly pull the outfit together. Joining KP at the Californian shindig was Malin Akerman who also impressed us last week in her silver sheath and although the sunnies are questionable and we are slightly concerned by the enormously wide belt, the matching black accessories certainly give the purple outfit a kinky kick.
Jessica Alba and Chloe Sevigny were out and about on the sunny streets of LA in a homage to Daisy Duke, proving that micro denim shorts still have mileage. We just love the laid back sensibility they exude and let's get real, those mile-long legs are ridiculously enviable. But what really makes us proud is the fact both ladies have brought their own unique spin to the staple wardrobe item to elevate it to on-trend perfection -- clogs for Chloe and Doc Martens for Jess. And that’s the test of a true Best Dresser. Congrats!
