Last Night’s Best Dressed: the CLASSY clan

07 May 2010

Here at Grazia HQ, we’ve just about recovered from the frock fantabulousness that was the Met Ball but what of the guests? Well, they’ve spent much of the week slouching about in a state of casual cool after such a glamourous display, but a select few were back on the party circuit in California last night. Hurrah! Yes, we’re mightily impressed with the stylish turnout at the launch party for Derek Blasberg’s book, appropriately titled ‘CLASSY’ but we need your helping hands in deeming who was the event’s Best Dressed. So just incase you haven’t had enough ballot debates for one week, have a gander at these beauts then cast your deciding vote (so much more fun than politics, no?)

Exhibit A: the ever impeccable Kate Bosworth. After floating about the Ball in a 1930s-inspired gown, she kept things simple for yesterday’s soiree in this fuss-free shift topped off with a pair of nude Louboutins, making those legs go on for days. A smidge of colour wouldn’t have gone amiss though, Bos -- perhaps a bold pink lip, par exemple? That always impresses us.

Is it a space age robotic lady? Nope, it’s that Malin Akerman whose recent sartorial choices have made our beady eye sit up and take notice. And here’s the perfect example of her fashion fabulousness. Instead of covering herself in sequins to make a shimmering enterance, Malin opted for a way cool Monique Lhuillier sheath in metallic lame, jazzed up by black bondage heels and a matching Etro clutch. Lavleey!

Wow, is that you Mischa Barton? And you've discovered a style to flatter your figure? Well, bravo! This gorgeous floral frock of hers is very feminine, thanks to a touch of waist definition and that flippy hemline. Plus, we’re seriously coveting those accessories (snakeskin peep-toe boots, anyone?) to bring her own kooky twist to the look. Here’s hoping it signals the beginning of a less grubby, non-teeny-weeny-shorts-clad Barton, and for that we can only be grateful.

Giving Misch a run for her fashion kudos was Cat Deeley who arrived wearing a similarly summery dress in a Spanish senorita-stylee but kept it very lady-like with her delicate sandals, not to mention those envy-inducing locks. Ah, you gotta love her.

And here’s Devon Aoki proving that pink pajamas does not a fashionista maketh. Please remove. But wait, it’s a jumpsuit swathed in chiffon? Well, that’s a different matter entirely! Because miraculously the model manages to pull off the bizarre get-up with an air of wearability. But be warned: that doesn't mean anyone else can.

We’ve come to learn that there are three things Nicole Richie will not be seen without: a boho-inspired maxi dress, a head of flowing extensions and a cluster of very pretty jewels. But despite her insistence on sticking to the same formula time and time again, we defy you not to love it. She looks smashing in this Missoni number, doesn’t she?
