The Best Dressed List: VB, leopard print prowlers, and a piano poncho...

06 May 2010

Well looky here! It’s Marina Diamandis looking pitch perfect once again. We’re becoming quite enthralled by her carousel of wowing ensembles, and she’s clearly cracked the code for successfully pulling off kooky cool. While being stylish and fun at once, she never goes too overtly crazy. This outfit, which the songstress wore to the Radio 2 studio yesterday, is the perfect case study. Because although there's a touch of eccentricity thanks to her Gaga-esque sunnies, colour-popping lips and that fabulous piano-themed poncho, Marina hasn’t gone over-board thanks to the simple tee + Hudson jeggings combo. And why not throw in a a touch of glitz courtesy of an Angel Jackson frilly sequin satchel? Yep, Marina is well and truly having a fashion moment. More, more, more!

Oooh we do love a spot of Vicky B. And we’re glad to report she looked simply splendid while clacking about London, which is no surprise considering she lives and breathes fashion every single waking moment. How does she do it, you cry? Well, this fail-safe LBD is full of designer details, including puff-shoulders, a flared skirt and layers of ruffles (and it’s from Isabel Marant’s SS10 collection, dontcha know). When styled up with leg-lengthening Brian Atwood heels, glam shades, plus a signature Birkin, it’s a winning formula.

Ah yes, the most faithful fashionistas never change their spots (chortle!) From the sunny streets of Soho to the Californian hills, Kate Hudson, Nicky Hilton and Whitney Port were out and about yesterday, all wearing a variety of animal prints with an air of nonchalance. While K.Hud looked easy breezy and Nicky was effortlessly cool in her shift, we just love Whitters for giving her leopard print cardie a cutsey twist by throwing it over a lovely gingham dress, that has us reminiscing about our school girl days. Fashion forwardness at its best!

Once again we witness the super powers of Herve Leger, as demonstrated by Leighton Meester. Still on a mission to distinguish her style from Blair ‘prim-and-proper’ Waldorf, the Gossip Girl performed her first duty as Herbal Essences’ new ambassador wearing a pretty ivory number from the designer with a provocative plunging neckline, teamed with some very nice Pierre Hardy heels of gold. We love how the aggressive sexiness inherent in many form-fitting Herve Leger frocks is toned down by incy-wincy ruffles and pretty pleats as well as that flirtatious flippy skirt, which brings a playful skater vibe. Good work.

Also working the same summery colour palette in a display of seasonal correctness was Ms Minogue. Kylie wisely avoided the Liz Hurley all-white pitfall by pairing her milky top with classic ivory roll-ups, dressed up by a statement gold necklace and matching heels for a striking contrast. The result? Pint-sized perfection, natch.
