Get thee to Dover Street Market Market

Whatever you have planned for this weekend, cancel it. Because if you don’t get yourself to The Old Depot in North London, you will regret it. For it is the Dover Street Market Market running from Saturday until Monday evening. For most people the idea that Dover Street Market (the cult Comme des Garcons store and designer boutique in Mayfair) occasionally sell old stock off at 70 – 80% off, had become a fashion myth. But I was at the last one and I can tell you that it is the best fashion sale I have ever been to in London, but also one of the most full-on – I still haven’t recovered from seeing fashion legends and celebrities alike lose themselves over clothes. Rails and rails of Comme, Margiela, Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent and Christopher Kane will be destroyed by desperate bargain hunters (I almost had a fight with someone over a Comme shirt last time. I won and still love to wear it). Tables of shoes and bags will almost be thrown over in distress by shoppers who didn’t find their size. But don’t let that put you off. There are fashion gems galore to be had and I still wear the pieces I wrestled off people (I jest…honest). Plus there will be regular deliveries throughout the three days, so don’t think the best stuff will be gone if you go late in the day. Yes you will have to queue, but the lovely folk at Dover Street Market have made sure that you will be looked after for they have invited their favourite stallholders from some of London’s best foodmarkets, to set up home in the forecourt of the building for the weekend. See you don’t even need to bring lunch with you as the coffee and cupcakes will make sure your energy doesn’t drop, as you’ll need it all to beat the others to that Christopher Kane gorilla tee. Good luck and God bless!
