Looks like someone took the phrase ‘she’d look good in a bin bag’ quite literally last night. For here stands Jenny from the Block at the London premiere of 'The Back-up Plan' looking like she’s got wrapped in a black bin liner, but au contraire! This is the epitome of the power of Lanvin + leather. And boy, has it transformed Jen into a chic glamazon! We spotted her going glitzy in a sparkler by Alber Elbaz last week so how happy we are to see she’s back in the designer’s wares with this molded matte delight. Er, how fabulous is that poofy sleeve? It successfully makes a statement despite being upstaged by that beautiful bird’s nest a-top her head, which is the width of her entire face, we might add. Bravo J to the L-O!
While Jennifer was working the bin bag look, Gwyneth Paltrow looked to crumpled tin foil for fashion inspiration (albeit very sparkly tin foil). The actress was at the Bent On Learning benefit in New York, raising cash to offer yoga in underprivileged schools, and looked terrifically toned, flaunting her mile-long legs in another metallic creation. And guess what? She's returned to Victoria Beckham's AW10 collection after already rocking VB's grey shift this weekend, remember? Looks like she's onto a winner. Meanwhile, Madonna was also walking the red carpet in a display of support for the pair’s yoga instructor, Eddie Stern. But rather than glamming it up like Gwynnie, she stuck to a black D&G trench enlivened by gold accents. In fact, it was young Lourdes who stole the spotlight from mummy Madge by showcasing the unique sartorial taste that Grazia has become so captivated by. Good work for giving her embellished frock a kooky spin with those ripped tights and the unexpected addition of Doc Marten boots. Too cool for school at 13 years old? God, we feel old.
Across town, the Tribeca Film Festival Dinner was in full swing with a swarm of stylish celebrities getting spruced up in their party gear. While Rachel Zoe, Selma Blair and Kristen Bell stuck to the trusty benefits of black, our hats go off to Zoe Kravitz for ignoring the protocol and picking a pretty prom dress:
Could Zoe be emulating the trendsetting ways of SJP? Here’s hoping! However, it must be said that the addition of a waist-defining (and 1990s-wide) belt to define the waist is a tad unnecessary (that structured skirt creates more than enough curves, no?) but the pearly Chanel slingbacks perfectly pull her outfit together. This is one gal to watch, folks!
