The Best Dressed List: black and booted

We’re rather perplexed with the latest selection of best dressers. Why? Because while this sunny spell has got us in the mood for all things colourful, yesterday’s celebrati looked like a funeral procession. What’s with all the black, girls? It's leaving us feeling a tad disappointed [read bored]. Thankfully, J-Lo’s back on the promo circuit, which inevitably means a good dollop of glitz, plus a disabled dog covered in flowers (Is it 2 legged, 2 wheeled?! We just don't know). But what say you fellow fashion followers? Do you dig the all-blacks or are you planning to 'bling it on' for the sun-filled weekend? Have a gander then get a-voting...

First up, we have some pretty standard fashion fare from our Vic. A black tuxedo jacket, tailored skinny trews, Brian Atwood heels combo = very sophisticated and very sleek. All to be expected, but what’s this? No shirt? AND no bra?? Apparently, after straddling a duck in German Vogue, Ms B has kept her saucy side alive. Do we give points for such a thing? Absolutely.

Next, we have Salma Hayek epitomising another lesson in how to vamp up an all-black ensemble: Balenciaga boots. The actress made quite an entrance when she stomped into the 'Bid to Save the Earth' Auction wearing the mid-calf wonders teamed with a simple black tee and puffed skirt. We're so enamoured in fact that they've got us in quite the jovial mood, which is always a bonus. Singing...‘These boots were made for talking!'

Ahem. Back to business, check out Kate Moss providing us with another aesthetically pleasing outfit for the Art Plus Music Party at the Whitechapel Gallery in London, and what a treat to see her back in her glad rags. The silky dress with gorgeous gold beading in a floral design is beautifully chic and with that boxy blazer casually draped over the top, the vintage vibe is instantly smartened up.

For our final lady in black, we present a quirky tigeress in the form of Hayden Panettiere sporting an edgy new hair do (complete with quiff and, er, sideburns...) that's perfectly complemented by her shimmering sheer LBD. Trying to shake off the all-American cheerleader effect with a tough new image, anyone?

The last treat of the day is a double dose of J to the L-O. Thank heavens that she's back on the scene and scrubbing up so well after popping out those beautiful twins (and yes, by that we mean her beyond-cute two-year-old babies Max and Emme). So after glamming it up like a golden goddess courtesy of Lanvin, Jennifer spilled her Latino curves into yet another metallic number by Gianfranco Ferré then caged them into the Swarovski crystal corset on her fierce Georges Chakra’s nude frock. What a winner! J-Lo, we salute you (and seriously want those pins).
