When it comes to wearing denim, there’s one girl we turn to for inspiration – Jessica Alba. No other can so perfectly rock a boyfriend jean (even in flats!) quite like her. In the past week however, sprinkled into the usual comfy-casual-cool denim getups, the 29 year old actress has been experimenting with a more grown up and sophisticated look too.
And it’s not just about smartening up for red carpet events, oh no, even picking up groceries with her adorable daughter Honor Marie can be a fashion opportunity! Donning a white blazer (sooo Bianca Jagger) with an of-the-moment draped Aztec printed skirt, tights and some foxy buckle ankle boots, we know this is not your/our usual supermarket attire, but it is a good lesson in spring dressing.
Just adding that white blazer makes all the difference, which must be why Jessica wore it for the second time this week whilst in Tribeca, NY, for the Film Festival whilst promoting her new flick Climate of Change, with black silky tailoring and highlights of summery gold jewellery.
Next, onto a conference about education in third world countires (all very serious sounding, isn’t it? That’ll explain the wardrobe shift) where Miss Alba tried out the new pastel shades, layered one on top of the other, with some silky palazzo pants and a cute little twinset. A slight Michelle Obama influence going on here perhaps? Nought wrong with that, Mrs O is a benchmark for a serious but stylish wardrobe.
And finally, a sunny look that’ll be a winner for this weekend’s predicted weather – a chiffon printed floaty frock with a denim biker and fringed sandals. Perfect park-lounging stuff.
