Stylistas imitating VB we can understand but actresses emulating Mr Beckham’s wardrobe? Well whoda thunk it?! Yes, David’s been known to sport a sarong and he does like a good mani from time to time, but we never thought we’d see the day Charlize Theron was in a fash-off with a footballer-meets-lumberjack. But here we are:
Well this is shocking. David and Charlize must’ve wished they could hide behind the burly basketball players when they wore matchy-matchy shirts and faded jeans at the LA Lakers game yesterday. Admittedly, we can’t fault the look they’re going for – plaid is a classic for casual cool of course, plus Charlize’s bondage-esque heels bring a fancy spin, and yet we can’t help cringing for the two of them... But hey, at least it's not THIS getting Becks hot under the collar, and for that we are all thankful.
In keeping with this very entertaining who-wore-it-best game, we couldn’t let this little incident escape our Best Dressed spotlight. Because here we were thinking that fashionistas wouldn't be seen dead in the same dress (let alone at the same event) but behold Tina Fey and Sheryl Crow who attended the Matrix Awards wearing near-identical floral frocks clinched by black belts. Eeek, time to cower behind the canapés! Although, considering these are the masterful creations of Dolce & Gabbana and the differing necklines appease the humiliation, we reckon they’ve got away lightly. So no handbags at dawn this time and luckily La Fey managed to see the funny side – when taking to the stage, she joked, "If you want to see what this dress looks like on a surfer body, look over there. I wear it with a sweater." Ha! Phewf, fashion faux pas averted.
In fact, it was Fergie who got in there first when she flaunted her own blooming assets in the design duo’s floral print for a Red Cross Fundraiser last weekend. And what a wonderful way to step into spring! Plus, remember Margaret Madè? You know, that actress from "Una casa piena di specchi" with Sophia Loren...? Ok, us neither. But guess what? She’s only gone and snapped it up too! So there you go boys, Dolce domination is yours. We reckon this is one floral overload we’ll never tire of but what we reeeally want to know (yes, you know what’s coming...) is who wore it best? Cast your votes now please!
Seeing as we’re in the matchy-matchy mood, we bring you another demonstration of Nicole Richie’s predilection for all things boho, that’s reminding us of a certain Ms Moss. Nic’s simple tee + jeans + embroidered wrap combo with tousled waves is the perfect homage to the eclectic ensemble Kate sported at the Stella McCartney and GapKids launch last month... Hmm, imitating Mossy’s style? Never!
And finally... this is really confusing us. Thoughts?
