AW10 Campaigns – the skinny so far

22 April 2010

Have you been keeping abreast of campaign news? No, not the election, silly! The models being lined up for the AW10 campaigns. The internet is veritably buzzing with suspicion that Dolce & Gabbana will be renewing their contract with longstanding friend (and also partner in sunglass-creating crime) for their up and coming ads.

The Italian duo is shooting their menswear ads en ce moment in Manhattan, where Madonna is also in residence. If their photographer Steven Klein appears next week, as has been predicted, the gang will be back together.

The current season’s ads, which were shot in black and white by Steven Klein, featured her Madgeness slurping pasta and doing the washing up. What will they dream up for her this time? (if the rumours are correct) Suggestions in the comments box please.

Meanwhile, the very crush-worthy Miss Alessandra Ambrosio, usually associated with posh undies brand Victoria’s Secret has been announced for Moschino. We know not everyone agrees that bra models really count as ‘representing normal women’ BUT it is a move in the curvy direction, and surely a girl like Alessandra provides an injection of personality into proceedings . . . ?

Warming to the theme of the new body type, we’d already told you that Lara Stone has swept up a bundle of campaigns for 2010. Now one of her employers, Francisco Costa head of Calvin Klein has reportedly said that he’s more excited about a more grown up or womanly poster girl, since blank-eyed sizes zeros are “a little too formulaic” for his tastes these days (!) Model agent supremo, Christopher Michael of 1 Management welcomed the sentiment, saying, "a sign of the times indeed."

After Marc Jacobs’ eclectic parade of ladies for the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week, the role call of participants in the AW10 campaign will be Christy Turlington and Natalia Vodianova; we are looking forward muchly already.

Finally, no fashwan round up would be complete without an appearance from style titan and perennial Grazia Daily fave, ol’ Karl Lagerfeld. He’s been busy with a gang, nay, a BEVY of beautiful Chanel lovelies filming a mini vignette for the Chanel Cruise 2011 show (to be held in May). Amongst those spotted with the be-gloved one were Heidi Mount, French actor Pascal Greggory, and models Karolina Kurkova, Magdalena Frackowiak, Leigh Lezark, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Abbey Lee Kershaw. Phew!
