Tom Ford’s Womenswear gathers pace

As much as we love getting a Tom Ford fix at the cinema in his latest role as director, soon we really need a fashion fix from the man. We’ve known for ages that he has plans to launch a womenswear line in 2011, but now news reaches us that he is starting to assemble the design team. Rumours are that he has hand-picked Caroline Tixier, a women’s ready-to-wear designer at Givenchy and Pablo Coppola, an accessories designer at Alexander McQueen. Good pedigree then for sure, but then what would you expect from Mr Ford? In the past he has said ‘You know it will take me 18 months when I start, because [I have] to hire the team, find the factories, put everything together and then get the stores ready.’ While Tom and team have made no comment, we are going to take this as news that the TF womenswear ball is officially rolling. Bring it on! [WWD]
