Last night’s Best Dressed: hot young things

26 March 2010

At the sight of Emma Watson at a Stateside soirée, we were reminded of how much our fashion radar has missed the presence of her sheer chicness. And after having the image of her wrapped in a Burberry trench imprinted on our minds, what a delight to see her stepping it up with some edgy leather and racy lace, and it couldn’t have been a more appropriate choice for the event. Indeed, Emma saw it fitting to turn to Brit designer Christopher Kane’s latest collection when schmoozing with the fashwan elite for the London's Emerging Designers launch, which raises the profile of British talent in the States - and hasn’t she done well! Oh and one more thing, how fierce are those patent heels? Overall, totally fantabulous we say! You?

Skipping onto another young starlet, we have girl-of-the-moment Carey Mulligan who was the first celeb spotted wearing Kane’s AW10 designs last month. But for the LA premiere of new flick "The Greatest", Carey and her cute-as-pie dimples turned to trusty Chanel chic for a smart and sharp twist on her modern oeuvre. Yep, the actress went all grown-up in this midnight blue tweed shift from the Pre Fall 2010 collection, cementing her style statement as a sophisticated and intelligent star. See, you don’t have to overtly flaunt your feminine wiles in order to get noticed as a Hollywood starlet (we’re talking to you, Megan Fox). Go Carey!

Speaking of the more seductive aesthetic, we have sensuality personified in the fabulous forms of Miranda Kerr and Alessandra Ambrosio. The Victoria’s Secret angels donned their glad rags to celebrate the anniversary of the lingerie brand’s swimwear catalogue and lordy, look at those legs! The future Mrs Bloom - who looks as glamourous in jeans as easily as a sexy shift - looked down right marvellous in a teeny tiny swath of emerald green Dior silk. The glimmering metal slab clinching the neckline brings a quirky twist and that Kate Bosworth-esque bun a-top her ahead keeps the look on the sweet side of sexy. Meanwhile, Ambrosio followed in the fashionable footsteps of Cheryl Cole and struck a pose in this fresh beaded dress by Hervé Léger, the master of figure-sculpting. Huh, as if she needs it...
