Lara - this week's model fixation

Girl crush alert! When we heard the news that Lara Stone is to be the new face of Calvin Klein Collection AND Calvin Klein Jeans we pounced on the opportunity to generally marvel at her all round loveliness. She seems to be in every campaign (Full list here) going at the moment . . . lets see, the run down includes Jean Paul Gaultier, Time, DKNY Jeans, Nicole Farhi, Belstaff, Hugo Boss Orange, Revlon, Just Cavalli, Max Mara, La Perla, Sisley, Jil Sander and of course, Givenchy for no less than five consecutive seasons in her capacity as muse to Riccardo Tisci. Then there’s Calvin Klein Makeup, not to mention Prada perfume.

She’s well known for her busty figure amongst a sea of model twiglets (Miuccia Prada made sure she was up there with the Victoria’s Secret girls in her SS10 show), her trademark gap in her teeth and her amazing ability to channel 60s siren Brigitte Bardot in shoots. All the Dutch beauty requires are a slight bouffe to the hair and a flick of black eyeliner. C’est magnifique.

Of course, these days we are used to seeing her in the gossip pages as well as the fashwan sections since she hooked up with (Little) British comedian and actor David Walliams. She’s often to be seen helpless with giggles as he escorts her round town, and we hear from everyone who’s met them that they truly are a very cute couple indeed.

Lara Catherina Stone has a Dutch mother and an English father and grew up in the Dutch town of Mierlo. She was first approached by an agent in the Paris Metro, at age 12. When she entered an Elite Model Look contest in 1999 aged 15, she didn't win but impressed Elite executives and was signed to the Elite Modeling Agency. Her big break came after signing to IMG in 2006. Soon after, she opened the Givenchy haute couture show in Paris, and became a firm favourite of Mr Tisci. She also has strong links to Prada and Jean Paul Gaultier AND Isabel Marrant.

One last fact you might not know about Ms Stone – she has tiny feet for her height (UK size 5) and always teeters perilously down the runway willing herself not to stumble in the model shoes, which are usually size 7 or 8!

Hurrah for Lara! Long may she totter on the fashion scene.
