The ashes of fashion designer Alexander McQueen are to be scattered on the Isle of Skye.
Although born and brought up in East London, Lee felt a strong connection to the birthplace of his father Ronald, and had told his family he wanted the remote island to be his final resting place. As well as his Scottish name, Gaelic themes permeated several of his collections, including ‘Highland Rape’ and his use of tartan in his pieces.
His father, Ronald, who was born on Skye, and his five siblings will travel to the island in the next few weeks to fulfil his wishes. His brother Michael said: "Alexander was back and forward all over the world, but he felt at home when he was in Scotland"
