The Weekend’s Best Dressed: full-on femininity

Keira Knightley was the the main event at yesterday’s Laurence Olivier Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. After being lured out of her scruffy jeans by Miu Miu’s cheeky shirt and skirt combo earlier this month, we were delighted to see KK continuing her unconventional leaning by turning to the elegance of Erdem's AW10 catwalk. This slim-fitting silk gown adorned with the designer’s signature abstract print is the perfect way to do elegance with an edge, and her hair and make-up is wisely kept super simple - the fabric itself is decoration enough. Yep, this is one look we've fallen head over heels for. You?

Another starlet making a style statement was the cute-as-pie Ginnifer Goodwin who’s also leapfrogging into the realms of quirky cool. The actress rocked up at the Genesis Awards expressing her feminine individuality with this delicious lacey red number from Valentino’s Pre Fall 2010 collection, finished off with Stella McCartney pumps and matching Kotur clutch. The draped waist creates the perfect definition while the ruffle neckline and long sleeves bring an air of sophistication, and just check out that sexy bare back. Wowser! When accessorised with Ginnifer’s conviction, it's undoubtedly a good 'un.

Whitney Port

Once again, Whitney Port ditched the fashion rule book and embraced clashing prints. Cheers all round! When presenting at Melbourne’s Fashion Festival, Whitters boldly proved her trendsetting mojo with a hip mash-up of stripes and animal prints, a look reminiscent of our beloved Fearne Cotton. See girls, pretty doesn't have to be predictable.

Lake Bell looked youthful, a little bit preppy and brilliantly cool at the 'Odd Molly' flagship store opening in L.A on Friday night. Her sheer dress of ditzy florals was roughed up by a pair of scruffy boots and punctuated with a complementing tailored jacket. Take note if you’re after a similar casual chic outfit for sunny Sundays in the countryside. Joining La Bell was Helena Christensen who brought the cocktail frock up-to-date with a nod to this season’s dare-you-wear trend: underwear as outwear. The sultry model astutely played down her sexy slip with a little leather jacket and the perfect addition to ease your wardrobe into spring: a pair of adorable floral embellished pumps. Daisy Lowe, take heed.

Finishing off this weekend's selection, we return to the Laurence Olivier Awards' red carpet and Ms Melanie Chisholm, aka Mel C, aka Sporty Spice. Although admittedly she’s not often a Best Dressed contender, we reserve a special mention for the singer's support of her fellow Spice with this piece from Victoria Beckham’s collection. We’re loving the paillette-detailed shoulder pads that are bang on trend and doesn’t she look super sleek? What a pleasant surprise to see her casting off her joggers for a dose of elegance straight out of VeeBee’s style manual. In fact, we’re wondering if it’s straight out of Vic’s wardrobe since the designer herself has already worn it, to Elton John’s 2009 Oscar Party... Gasp, shock, horror! Of course this begs the question, who wore it best? Over to you, peeps.
