We’re already practically fainting with excitement at the prospect of the new Target for Liberty of London collection arriving in-store at Liberty next Monday, and then they go and announce this – a special collection in collaboration with none other that - Manolo Blahnik! Be still our beating hearts…
This is extra exciting because Mr Blahnik doesn’t really do collaborations, and in fact, this is the first time any British retailer will be allowed to sell his designs outside his own store in Chelsea. But then, as those of us who spend our weekends drifting dreamily around the treasure-packed boutique can testify – Liberty isn’t just any store. ‘It’s going to be exciting to work with a big store of which there is only one,’ said Blahnik.
And, despite the fact that the collection will only be available at Liberty for three months (from Fashion’s Big Night Out in September until Christmas) the man who designs the world’s most covetable shoes also does not do the term ‘pop up shop’ - so common - preferring to use the term “world of Manolo” instead.
The world of Manolo will sell a selection of the A/W '10 collection, which features a flat version of Carrie Bradshaw’s show-stealing shoe from the first “Sex and the City” movie, alongside ultra-perfect riding boots, furry ankle boots, and high heeled moccasin loafers. Manolo also confirmed that he would be designing objects especially for the in-store boutique; ‘all sorts of really exciting things…including scarves, candles and designing new Liberty prints.’ We've got our Liberty loyalty cards at the ready...
