Tommy Ton tricked by Riccardo Tisci!

17 March 2010

It has been quite a week for the fashion rumour mill, and you can blame Tommy Ton of style blog Jak and Jil. A few days ago he tweeted “I received some news tonight that is going to SHAKE the fashion world in the next two days. CRAZY!!!!"
Naturellement, fashion insiders started wildly speculating about what the news could be. And it didn’t take long for the return of the industry’s favourite rumour – that Alber Elbaz is going to take over from Karl Lagerfeld at Chanel. Chanel representatives were forced to step in and issue their gazillionth denial, stating that Kaiser Karl has a long-term contract and "Replacing him is not an issue."
Undeterred, Ton posted more delicious teasy tweets like “You think u know but u have NO idea. Sorry, it isn't my place to announce this news. You'll know exactly what I'm talking about soon..” Resulting in even more crazy guesses on his Twitter feed.
And the blogger didn’t stop there, even offering clues like ‘view the Paris videos and see if you can figure it out. Tehehehe :p’ leaving fashionistas feverishly scouring the footage for anything suspicious.
Well, it seems the mystery has been solved. And it turns out that Ton was well and truly punk’d by none other than Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci. A sheepish TT announced last night “Guessing game is over. My source and I are the victim of a good prank played by Mr. Tisci himself. He got us good :(“
Ha, well played Riccardo.
But Tommy, we still want to know WHAT THE RUMOUR WAS!
