London’s Groucho club hosted its first Oscars party last night and, along with musicians (Katie Melua and William Orbit), models (Tallulah Adeyemi), actors (John Culshaw), and other assorted gorgeous types who probably didn’t have work in the morning, we were there to soak up the Martinis. And, uhm, the atmosphere. Here’s the night in a nutshell…
They wore… actual black tie, for the most part. Dickie bows for the gents, red lippie for the ladies.
The decor… added to the sense of occasion, with a red carpet and an eight foot tall, gold Oscars statue on arrival.
They watched… The red carpet on Sky1 from 11.30pm, followed by the ceremony on Sky Movies Premiere, from 1am til 5.30am. Thank goodness for Espresso Martinis, which helped keep enthusiasm levels high in the wee small hours.
They ate… tiger prawns, mini burgers, sushi, smoked salmon and cupcakes.
They drank… Marilyn Monroe cocktails (Manzana Verde, Grenadine, Perrier Jouet) and Dean Martin Martinis.
They winced… when presenter Angela Griffin revealed she was wearing flip flops on the red carpet. Talk about a fashion opportunity wasted.
They cheered… when Kathryn Bigelow won best picture for The Hurt Locker. Huzzah!
They all fancied… Tom Ford. Immaculate hotness.
We only wish… We had predicted all the Oscar winners (we mistakenly thought best picture would go to Avatar, sigh...) to win an incredible prize - a trip to Zanzibar. Now *that* would have made the sore head worthwhile...
