Heads up London fashionistas! Tonight The Book Club bar in London's Shoreditch hosts a rather fashionable event. Bad Idea magazine, a quirky, illustrated literary quarterly, has been organising events called Future Human. They are kind of trendy intellectual discussions - rather like a literary salon for the 21st century.
The nights are praised by everyone who’s been for their charming venues, erudite guests and posh drinks. Tonight sees the topic of discussion turn to fashion – hurrah! We get to pretend to be sophisticated members of the intelligentsia and actually know what’s going on.
The panel of speakers will be made up of Ruth Marshall-Johnson, content director at WGSN, the fashion information resource used by brands and mags to forecast the trends of the future; Iris Ben-David, CEO and founder of StyleShake; plus Helen Brown, founder of Catwalk Genius – the online retailer that puts designers directly in touch with their clientele (and featured in Grazia!)
The theme of the night will be Fashion’s Microchic Shake-up, which promises to be a thoughtful discussion of the future of fashion since the changes brought about by the internet, like live streaming of shows and fast fashion available to all thanks to increased production in the developing world. Yikes! We’ll be hoovering up the lychee Martinis at the bar and nodding sagely at Future Human at the Book Club tomorrow.
Limited tickets are available here and we'll see you down there!
