A week in the style of...Miu Miu!

05 March 2010

Beady eyed readers amongst you will know that usually this feature is dedicated to a lone female whose sparkling fashion sense has delighted us from dawn on Monday to dusk on Friday of the very same week. But this time, we’re mixing things up a bit, (calm down dear, it’s still as good) and reporting to you on one label that practically every stylish A-lister is wearing – and that all of us green eyed Grazia-ettes are trying to sell our Grannies for… it’s Miu Miu’s crystal strewn, Lolita-inspired spring/summer collection. What with the weather perking up and all, it’s understandable that ladies of the red carpet (and of the office) are beginning to strip themselves of wintry layers and step into some of spring’s most springy outfits. As always, thanks must go to Miuccia Prada’s fantastically innate ability to design what we want, when we want it, without even knowing we wanted it in the first place. Ya’know?

Alexa Chung has tweeted lyrical over Miu Miu’s most perfect shoes ever – they’re pink satin, swallow print, with crystal toes and the most satisfying chunk of a platform you’ve ever damn seen. Daisy Lowe has hit her stride, finding a dress that bares the flesh (we know she likes a bit of that) but that looks cute, young and fizzes sex appeal without crossing into TMI territory.

Living fashion legend and proud owner of every standout catwalk look possibly ever, Vogue Nippon’s Anna Della Russo looked her usual mega-glam self in Milan, wearing a navy sleeved version of Miu Miu’s mesh dancer’s dress. We’ve also witnessed the Miu Miu collection successfully lure Keira Knightley out of her Burberry shearling jacket for the first time in what feels like a decade, and into a deceptively naughty silk shirt and mismatched A-line skirt.

At a glance the pieces are demure, but look closer and you’ll see a print of naked ladies. Ooh la ruddy la! Just the kind of subversive sassiness we adore from Signora Prada. May the Miu Miu winning streak continue – we’re crossing fingers to see Clemence Poesy and Chloe Sevigny step out in the collection next…
