Last night’s Best Dressed: Vera Wang and friends

03 March 2010

In honour of the opening of Vera Wang's new store in LA, a line-up of glam starlets arrived to celebrate in style. Check out who wore what...

Always a sucker for slipping her petite frame into a strapless frock, Renee Zellweger worked a sophisticated shade of aubergine in this curve-creating ruched top over a simple pencil skirt from the designer herself. Also at the event was the stylist who launched an army of ‘Zoebots' so it was no surprise to see Rachel Zoe on fine form, despite just jetting back from Milan Fashion Week (how does she do it, eh?) We’re drooling over her two-toned assymetric frou-frou frock also by Vera Wang, of course. Two words: WE DIE!

Like Renee, Reese Witherspoon went for a lovely and lively violet-toned strapless frock that brilliantly complemented her blonde locks and honey complexion. The draped effect is super sexy and with the addition of a black waist band just like Rachel’s, the perfect shape is created. We are compelled to include Maggie Grace (ie: the one from Lost) in today’s roundup because of the similarly vibrant jewel shade of her shift and the fact that she wisely kept her hair swept back to fully flaunt the ruffled sleeves, but no Best Dressed points will be given for all those unsightly creases. Get the girl a steamer!

Little sister Hilton was ultra-pretty in pink and looked ready to step into spring with a pastel palette and bold geometric print. Nicky deserves an applause for staying so stylish in the face of Paris’ fashion misdemeanours, no? Well, we’re impressed anyway. Reinforcing the idea that models need only stick to the basic yet trusty benefits of an LBD to make a blinding entrance is Amber Valletta. Thumbs up for funking it up with an array of draped tassels and co-ordinating lace-up bondage heels, though. Hawt.

So what sayeth you? Were these ladies dressed to impress or are the ensembles more eek that chic? We want to know! So pop your comment in the box below...
